Osiyo,
for too long our people
have been treated like
Biblical lepers, not
recognized by our own
people in the federally
recognized tribes. The
federal Tribes don't
appreciate the sacrifice
that our people made in
hiding themselves from
tribal census. Today, we
are denied a rightful
place in the federally
recognized groups. Our
own relatives even deny
the fact that we are
Cherokees, in order to
gain favor with others
outside of the tribes. I
am thankful for the The
United Cherokee Nation
UCN. It is a group where
we can gather and be a
part of our people. We
don't need federal
recognition, the B.I.A.,
or even federal support.
Sadly, we don't even need
recognition by our own
families to be Cherokees.
We are Cherokees, United
in one Nation, Under one
Principal Chief. Long
Live our Chief and
"The
Gathering". We are
United Cherokees.
