To our
Tsalagi family in the USA:

Two hand
drums were enough to make The
United Cherokee Nation (UCN)
known in the small island of
Cyprus. Through the 3 week visit
of Morning Star, the opportunity
was given to share publicly
Native culture through song and
story telling.
The
Womens Research Centre
sponsored an evening event where
we drummed and talked about the
Ancestors teachings and
caretaking of our Mother Earth.
The place was packed to full
capacity and many people were
listening from the doors in the
rain. The two National TV
stations and a private one were
covering the event and all the
mainstream newspapers wrote very
positive write-ups about the
event. Later on in the week
interviews were given to the
National Channels.
Two
healing circles were held in the
eastern Mediterranean University,
one for students and one with the
professors. There was a great
openness and a need, as it was
confessed to us by many, to
receive cultural and spiritual
teachings from the Native world
view.
In a
conference held in the same
University, Morning Star spoke
about her childhood and life
experience as a Native person and
shared her healing journey
through the help of her Elders
back to the Red Road. Chief Night
Eagle shared about the Truth
Commission and the genocide of
50.000 Native children missing
from the Residential Schools of
Canada.
We were
honoured to have this opportunity
to present our Ancestors ways and
it has brought great respect to
our lives and others here in
Cyprus land. This first step has
opened doors to other
opportunities in the European
communities, as there was a
contact from Bosnia &
Herzegovina and Hanover
University (Germany) to visit
them for the same reasons, in the
spring and summer.
Blessings
in the Light
Wado! We
are grateful!
