Lee Custom Knives Webpage

My name is Jim Lee, and I make Lee Custom Knives. I have been making these knives since 1968. They are made entirely in my own shop from raw materials, so I control the process from raw steel, to finished product.

Each knife is made by hand. Even though I may use the same basic designs, due to their hand-made nature, no two knives ever turn out the same, and each is a unique piece.

My blades are made of 01 oil hardening tool steel, or 1095 high carbon steel. I temper them to approximately 60 Rockwell, which produces a blade with excellent cutting edge retention without the brittleness of stainless steel blades. These blades will retain their finish for many years with just a bare minimum of care.

Each blade is painstakingly ground and polished by hand on equipment which I have designed and built myself, then the hilts and pommels are fitted and installed, the handle materials are fitted and attached and given final shape. The completed knife is then given a final polish, serial numbered, etched with my logo, and given a razor sharp edge.

Unlike many other knife-makers, I am an outdoorsman and actually use my knives. You will find that they are well balanced, shaped for practical use, and sturdy enough to get the job done.

Whether you use your knife only occasionally, or every day, a Lee Custom knife will give you a lifetime of faithful service.
